What is Destination Imagination?

DI is a program designed to challenge young people to do long-term, creative problem-solving through teamwork and collaboration. DI’s purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. The program encourages teams to have fun, take risks and frame challenges while incorporating STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and math), the arts, and service projects. Team members learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, how to tap into their creativity and think on their feet, as well as the collaborative problem solving process.

This is all done without assistance or interference from adults.

    Teams Practice their Challenge

    Each team determines a meeting time, before or after school when the students and team managers are available. Teams typically meet once a week from October through February. We will coordinate finding space for you in the school if you need it!

    Compete in the Jeffco tournament @ Jefferson Jr. Sr. High School in Edgewater.

    Jeffco's Instant Challenge Day is January 27, 2018.
    If the competitive teams go on to state or nationals they choose to continue and participate in those tournaments in the Spring. In year’s past Dennison teams have gone on to place at the global competition.

Who can participate?

Any student! Parent/teacher volunteers are needed as team managers. Teams are comprised of 3-7 students, grouped based on grade level. K- 2 nd grade students participate in the non-competitive division while grades 3 rd – 6 th are competitive. Sign up & we will form your teams!

How much does it cost?

This is a self-funded program within our PTA organization. The team members split the registration fee of $115 for competitive teams and $90 for non- competitive teams, the Jeffco regional tournament registration $100 and required team supplies (which are capped, est. $140). A student on a competitive 4 person team would pay less than $100 for the program.
